Born from a Community Need
Ekwendeni Women Dawa Organisation was established in 2019 by a group of passionate community members who recognised the deep inequalities facing women and girls in Northern Malawi — barriers to education, persistent gender-based violence, limited economic opportunities, and inadequate access to healthcare.
The name "Dawa" — meaning medicine or solution in Chichewa — reflects the organisation's belief that empowering women is the cure to many of society's deepest challenges. Since our founding, we have grown from a small community initiative into a recognised NGO delivering structured programs across the Northern Region.
We work closely with communities, government institutions, schools, health facilities, and international partners to ensure our programs are effective, sustainable, and community-led.
